Dear Moderator,
This blogs belongs to Michael Hutchinson and I worked with Gareth Owens, Evon Dobson and Danial Kennedy. For our AS Media coursework we were asked to create a 2 minute opening sequence to a Film Noir/Thriller film, including appropriate titles. I have ordered my posts from my TimeToast, Final Edit, Preliminary Task, Evaluation, Planning Documents and Research Tasks.
It took our group approximately 4 months to complete our film and the blog I hope you enjoy the film and my blog.
Below you will find our TimeToast which we were able to log and track our progress throughout this four month process in order to plan our time.
Kind Regards,
Michael Hutchinson.

Final Cut
Above you can see my final cut of my finished Film Noir / Horror opening sequence film which as a group we are extremely proud of. After completing our sequence we advertised our film on Facebook to obtain their views and feedback. Overall we feel the feedback we received highlighted our strengths of the sequence but also indicated some of our weaknesses.
It was indicated to us that we had used a range of different camera shots allowing us to put a twist in the stereotypical Film Noir genre by including concepts from the horror genre allowing us to create unusual mise-en-scene.
Overall we feel that the production of this sequence went well and if we were to complete this task again I think we would incorporate more editing techniques to convey a better storyline.

Preliminary Task
Above you can see my preliminary task. This was a very interesting task to complete as we had never used any of the camera equipment before and this was our first attempt at making a film sequence. For our preliminary task we produced a short drama sequence in which we took inspiration from the award winning film series 'Rocky'.
Furthermore we had to include a total of three editing techniques which included a shot reverse shot, match on action whilst following the 180 degree rule we was challenging as we were unfamiliar with these techniques
I believe that as a group we were able to successfully include these techniques within the sequence appropriately whilst maintaining the 180 degree rule. After completing this task it allowed us to feel comfortable using the equipment and editing software preparing us for our film sequence.

Storyboard
Above is the Storyboard showing the original plan for our sequence which is a detailed explanation of how our sequence was going to be filmed an edited. However when editing the sequence some of the scenes were altered and new scenes were added to make the film more appropriate for the task in hand. To add to this more titles were added to make the sequence more appropriate for our target audience.

By including Recee Shots we were able to text the locations in which we intend to film in ensuring that they are suitable for our sequence. During this process we also read over the script to ensure that all the actors were prepared for the task.

Unfortunately Gareth Owens was unable to attend the filming at Demko Studios so Assistant Director Michael Hutchinson directed the opening sequence with the help of Evon Dobson who filmed the shots in the England whilst Michael Hutchinson filmed the shots in France.
Above are our Call Sheets which were used to ensure that our filming schedules were planned and organised. By doing this it allowed the filming to run smoothly without any problems. It also allowed our actors to be organised and appropriately dressed.
